Fidhi's PK Lifts Lakers over Pacers on Wednesday Evening

The Lakers picked up their second straight 1-0 result

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer picked up its second straight 1-0 victory, but this time they beat USCA on Wednesday evening at Laker Field.

The Pacers came out firing in the first half as they pressured Laker keeper Rubie Kelley with eight shots, but none came went behind the back of the net.  Rubie made four saves in the first half.  The Lakers saw their offense come from Gabrielle Worthy, Jessica Fidhi, and Lofton Pickett.  Both teams went to the locker room deadlocked at zeros.

The Lakers turned to Claire Smith in the second half and like Kelley, she was cool and collected under pressure.  Smith stopped five shots and was faced with nine in all.  The Pacers could never get through on the scoreboard.  The Lakers did crack the scoring column.  In the 64th minute, the Lakers found themselves in prime position with a penalty kick.  Fidhi fired a shot that found the back of the net for a goal and the Lakers took a 1-0 lead.
