Men's Soccer Drops Road Match At Flagler

Jurica Folnegovic scores for the Lakers in loss

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team wrapped up its four-match road trip down in Florida against Flagler College on Saturday.  The Lakers added a late goal but dropped this PBC match to Flagler, 3-1.

The two teams played a very quiet first half which was interrupted by a lengthy lightning delay.  Both Clayton State and Flagler attempted four shots each and the two teams found themselves tied at zero at the end of the first 45 minutes.  In goal, Kalle Kuisma made a pair of saves and Fabian Wagner led the Lakers with a pair of shots.

Halftime: Clayton State 0, Flagler 0

The second half saw plenty of action from both teams.  Flagler opened the half with a goal in the 49th minute making the score, 1-0.  The Lakers then peppered the Saint keeper with a plethora of shots, but all those opportunities were snuffed out.  During that stretch, Camilo Velez, Adrian Lopez, Miguel Goncalves, and Ethan Elmore all sent in shots.  Flagler then extended its lead in the 71st and 82nd minute and jumped out to a 3-0 lead.  The Lakers did not go down quiet. In the 86th minute, Joao Amaral fed the ball to Jurica Folnegovic and he scored his first goal of the year making the score, 3-1.

The Lakers outshot the Saints, 10-6, in the second half but Flagler used three second half goals and won the match, 3-1.
