Bruhlmeier Records a Hat trick in 4-0 Shutout Over Emmanuel on Sunday Afternoon

Jael becomes the first Laker since 2024 to record three goals in a game

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team hosted Emmanuel University in their 2026 Regular Season opener on Sunday afternoon.  The Lakers ended up winning the match, 4-0, behind a hat trick by Jael Bruhlmeier

The Lakers did not waste much time breaking through on the scoreboard in the first half.  In the 13th minute, Karley Perry crossed a ball from the nearside corner and found Aniyah Vargas who finished for her first goal of the season.  The Lakers took a 1-0 lead.  The Lakers kept testing the Lion keeper as Laila Ortiz-Nolan, Perry, Natasha Goodwin, and and Ninni Ringstad all fired in shots.

The Lakers edged the Lions in shots, 6-5, and took a 1-0 lead going into the halftime break. Clayton State saw all six of their shots by six different players and they held the ball in 52% of the first half.

Halftime: Clayton State 1, Emmanuel 0

The second half proved to be an explosive one for the Laker offense.  Bruhlmeier peppered the Emmanuel keeper for two shots in the first six minutes, but the Lakers still led 1-0.  Jael would help the Lakers extended the lead.  In the 61st minute, Perry sent the ball into the middle of the box and Bruhlmeier sent in a shot, top shelf, for her first goal of the match.  Clayton State took a 2-0 lead.  The Laker offensive kept up the pace.  In the 80th minute, Bruhlmeier sent in another shot that was mishandled by the Lion keeper and scored her second goal of the match, moving the score to 3-0.

Bruhlmeier was not done yet.  In the 83rd minute, Vargas sent in a free kick which was pinballed in the box and Ortiz-Nolan found Jael and she headed the ball into the back of the net for a goal.

The Lakers only conceded nine shots and three on net as they pulled out the 4-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon.
