Men's Basketball | March 24, 2026

MORROW, Ga. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its selections for the 2025-26 Academic All-District teams for men's & women's basketball.  The Clayton State men's & women's basketball teams combined for six selections this season. 
 
From the women's team, forward Etaria Gibbons and guard Nya Young were honored while guards Justin Evans, DJ Wright, Andre Young, and Tahai Morgan earned this distinction.  Gibbons was the only one on the list that was a repeat selection for this honor. With four men's basketball players being honored, that is the most honorees in a single season in program history.  Prior to this season, there were only three total selections.   Two selections on the women's side also ties a program record for a single season as well. 
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL



ETARIA GIBBONS | Health & Fitness Management
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Gibbons had a good season for the Lakers.  In 28 games, Gibbons grabbed a team second-best 121 rebounds and led the team with 40 blocks.  In addition, she notched five games of double-digit scoring and posted a double-double against Georgia Southwestern.  In that game, she scored 17 points and brought down 10 boards.  Gibbons can add this honor to resume that includes gathering PBC All-Academic team, D2ADA Academic Achievement, and PBC Presidential Honor Roll honors last year. 
 



NYA YOUNG | Health & Fitness Management
A Native of Alpharetta, Ga., Young had a solid sophomore season.  In 25 games, Young scored 160 points and averaged 21.5 minutes a game.  She finished second on the team with 51 assists and shot 70.5% from the free throw line.  Nya also recorded one 20+ point game against Anderson (S.C.) on November 15^th.  This is Young's second academic accomplishment as she was a PBC Presidential Honor Roll selection last season. 
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL



JUSTIN EVANS | Interdisciplinary Studies
A native of Covington, Ga., Evans played his first full season for the Lakers in 2025-26.  Evans played in all 28 games off the bench.  In those games, Evans tossed in 59 points and dished out 11 assists.  This season also saw Evans grab 27 boards and drain 18 field goals.  Justin is no stranger to academic accolades as he gathered D2ADA Academic Achievement honors last year. 
 



TAHAI MORGAN | Interdisciplinary Studies
A native of Sugar Hill, Ga., Morgan had a solid sophomore season for the Lakers.  This season, Morgan tossed in 118 points in 28 games played.  In 28 games, Morgan averaged 19.2 minutes a game which is almost double his freshman campaign average.   Tahai scored 44 field goals, grabbed 42 rebounds, and dished out 24 assists.  Morgan also, like Young and Gibbons, earned the PBC Presidential Honor Roll distinction last season. 
 



DJ WRIGHT | Master of Business Administration (MBA)
A native of Greensboro, Ga., Wright closed out his Laker career on a high note in 2025-26.  This season saw DJ score his 1,000^th career point and he led the team with 55 made three-pointers and 946 minutes.  He was also one of only two Lakers to start and play in all 28 games.  In those games, Wright averaged 14.8 points a game and scored 149 field goals, which were good for second best on the team.  In addition, DJ scored 20+ points in eight games and tossed in double figures in 21 of 28 games.  Wright is no stranger to academic honors as he was a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree at Hampden-Sydney and was a PBC All-Academic and Presidential Honor Roll selection last year. 
 



ANDRE YOUNG | General Business
An Atlanta native, Young, had a tremendous season for Clayton State.  In 26 games, Young led the team with 17.8 points a game and scored 462 points.  On January 3^rd, Young broke the 25+ year school record with 46 points and made 18 field goals.  He is the only Laker to score at least 40 points in a game.  He also led the team with 78 assists, 76 free throws made, and 167 field goals made.  This season also saw Young notch 22 games of double-digit scoring and 10 games of 20 or more points.  This is the first academic accomplishment for Andre in a Laker uniform.
 
CRITERIA
To be considered for this prestigious award, the player must have played in 90% of the game or started in 66% of the games played.  This player also must have been a starter or an impactful bench player and boast at least a 3.50 GPA.  This student athlete also must have been at the institution for at least a year or be of sophomore standing.  Transfers are eligible after one semester is completed.
