McBeath Scores Equalizer in 1-1 Draw over #18 North Georgia

This is first result and goal scored against North Georgia since 2021

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team took the road and traveled to play a tough No. 18 University of North Georgia squad on Saturday afternoon.  The two teams played to a 1-1 draw.

North Georgia brought the firepower in the first half and outshot the Lakers, 9-2.  The Nighthawks jumped on the board first in the 11th minute and took a 1-0 lead.  The story the rest of the half was the stout Laker defense as Rubie Kelley made four saves.  Karley Perry and Aniyah Vargas attempted shots for the Lakers on the half, but North Georgia took a 1-0 lead going into the halftime break.

The second half felt similar for North Georgia as they outshot the Lakers, 8-3.  However, Claire Smith and the Lakers held the strong Nighthawk offense scoreless in the half as she made a pair of saves.  Perry and Vargas also notched shots for the Lakers on the half.  The Lakers then evened the match.  In the 85th minute, Lofton Pickett sent in a free kick that was pinballed around the box and found Aubrey McBeath who buried the ball into the back of the net for a goal.  The Lakers knotted the match up at one apiece.

The Lakers pick up their first result against North Georgia since October 23rd, 2021, as both teams finished in a 1-1 draw.
