MORROW, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) selected Clayton State University men's basketball guard
Andre Young as its Men's Basketball Player of the Week after his exceptional performance on Saturday against USC Beaufort. Young earned this award for the second time this season.
Young, who is an Atlanta native, broke Robert Conley's school record tossing in 46 points in the loss on Saturday against USC Beaufort. Andre also broke the school record and tied the PBC record with 18 field goals made. That record also stood since the. 1997-98 season. He also attempted the second most field goals in a game (25). Also in the game, Andre made four threes, grabbed three rebounds, and went 6-for-8 from the free throw line. Young also scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting on New Years Eve against #7 Anderson.
Young is currently on a six-game double-digit scoring streak dating back to December 10
th. In addition, Young leads the team and is fourth in the conference averaging 17.4 points a game and he is currently averaging 19.8 against conference opponents. The Lakers travel down I-20 as they play Augusta on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
