Morrow, GA--- The Clayton State University men's basketball team hosted Lander University inside The Loch on Wednesday night.
From tipoff, the Bearcats were able to see the first points of the game go in. The Lakers responded with a three pointer from
DJ Wright that got the scoring going for the Lakers. After a series of turnovers and steals from both teams, the Bearcats were able to find some success from inside the paint which got the Lakers behind by double digits. That did not stop the Lakers, as
Eddie Page and
Jojo Bell were able to get shots to go in that brought the cut the Bearcats lead to just 6 halfway through the first half. As the half went on, turnovers from the Lakers led to a big lead for the Bearcats going into the half.
Halftime: Lander 48, Clayton State 27
Coming out in the second half it was the Bearcats that got the first score of the half. Joe Thomas got the scoring going for the Lakers in the second half with two made free throws. The Lakers were able to get floaters to go in from inside the paint. The Bearcats were able to continue scoring as the half went on. The Lakers never gave up as they continued to compete but ultimately it was the Bearcats that held onto the lead and came away with the win.
