BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team travelled to the Lowcountry to play the Sand Sharks of USC Beaufort on Wednesday evening. The Lakers were shut out, 4-0.
The Sand Sharks scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead going into the halftime break. USCB scored its goals in the 2
nd and 35
th minute.
Aniyah Vargas,
Laila Ortiz-Nolan,
Emily Torrez, and
Karley Perry all sent in shots for the Lakers.
Rubie Kelley made one save as well.
Halftime: USCB 2, Clayton State 0
The Sand Sharks added a couple more goals in the second half to jump out to a 4-0 lead. USCB scored in the 67
th and 71
st minute to extend its lead. The Lakers came back with a little more fire power sending in nine shots on the half.
Laila Roberson led the team with three shots while Vargas and Perry each sent in two. Goalkeeper
Claire Smith made a season-high five saves in the half.
