Lakers Draw with Middle Georgia on Wednesday Evening

COCHRAN, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team traveled down to play PBC newcomer Middle Georgia State University on Wednesday evening.  The two teams played to a 2-2 draw.

The possession at the early part of the first half was all Lakers but nobody put a shot on frame until Gonzalo LaChica in the 16th minute.  The match remained at 0-0.  The Lakers tacked on the match's first goal.  In the 25th minute, Miguel Torrecillas received a ball from Andree Jimenez and finished for his first goal of the season making the score, 1-0.  That score held true going into the halftime break.  The Lakers did not allow a Middle Georgia State shot in the first half, outshooting them, 8-0.

Halftime: Clayton State 1, Middle Georgia State 0

The second half started a lot like how the first half ended with a flurry of shots from the Lakers.  Camilo Velez and Torrecillas each fired in a pair of shots apiece.  The Knights evened the match up in the 65th minute on a penalty kick.  Later in the half, the Lakers jumped back out front.  In the 80th minute, Garbhan Feeney scored his first goal of the season and made the score, 2-1.  Not even a minute later saw the Knights knot up the match at two.

The two teams finished 90 minutes with a 2-2 draw.
