MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team welcomed #19 Lander University to Laker Field for Alumni Day on Saturday. The Lakers squeaked out a 1-0 upset victory over Lander.
Lander held the Lakers to only three shots in the first half and keeper
George Roke made four saves in net. Clayton State did not have many opportunities but cashed in on one in the 21
st minute. After
Garbhan Feeney sent in a free kick,
Gonzalo LaChica took a shot and it was saved by the Bearcat keeper but it was redirected to
Sonny Simpson who headed the ball into the back of the net for a goal. The Lakers led, 1-0.

Andree Jimenez the entire half and took a 1-0 lead going into the halftime break.

The second half was much like the first half as Lander dominated possession and only allowed two Laker shots. However, Roke came up big again as he stopped all shots from going into the back of the net. The Laker defensive unit also thwarted many different opportunities for Lander throughout the half.
The Lakers played stout defense and edged the Bearcats, 1-0.
