MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team earned its first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) win of the season defeating Lander, 64-58, on Saturday afternoon.
Aaron Pitts led the Lakers with 17 points and scored his 1,000
th career point in the process.
The Lakers held Lander to zero points in the first 10 minutes of the game and led 16-0. Pitts and
Lay Davis each tossed in six points during that stretch. The Lakers continued to dominate the Bearcats as
DJ Wright, Davis,
Yannis Woods,
Dashaun Joseph, and Pitts marked points and the score read, 29-11.
Emmanuel Jones and Wright both buried threes in the final two minutes of the half as the Lakers took a 37-22 lead at the half. The Lakers shot 57% from the field in the half.

The Bearcats tried to claw back at the start of the second half as they scored eight of the first 11 points and made the score, 40-30.
Marcus Harris drained a three during that stretch. Woods came up big for the Lakers when they needed him to as he tossed in four field goals in very critical spots of the game and the Lakers still led by 13 at 52-39 with 5;30 left. At the score, 55-44, the Bearcats went on a 9-2 run and closed the gap to four at 57-53 with about a minute and a half left.
Pitts and Harris combined for the final seven points for Clayton State and went onto hold off Lander, 64-58.
