SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team took a quick trip down to Florida to play Flagler College on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers ultimately fell, 76-72.
Dazjanae Greene,
Ky'Leo Worriels, and
Nya Young started the offensive production for the Lakers in the opening quarter and pulled ahead, 8-6. After Flagler knotted up the game at eight, the Lakers responded with a 7-0 run and led, 15-8.
Kyla Greene hit a three during that run. Despite the Lakers not scoring for the final two minutes of the quarter, they still led, 16-15 after one quarter of play.
Amiyah Edney-Holmes splashed in a three-ball to open scoring in the second quarter and The Lakers jumped out to a 20-15 lead. At the score, 26-23,
Jadah Waite and
Kyla Greene combined to score seven of the final nine points of the quarter as Clayton State led, 35-33 at the halftime break.
Kyla Greene led the way with seven points while Worriels grabbed a team-high six boards.

The Saints took over the third quarter and outscored the Lakers, 24-15 and led 57-50 going into the final quarter of play. Worriels scored six of the 15 points while
Kyla Greene hit her third three of the ballgame. The Saints led by as much as 13 in the fourth quarter but the Lakers mounted a comeback. At the score, 74-61, the a jumper by
Sariya Henry sparked a 9-0 run and made the score, 74-70 with 38 ticks left.
The Lakers ended up running out of gas as they fell, 76-72, to Flagler.
