MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team hosted the Cougars of Columbus State University inside the Loch on Wednesday night. The Cougars pulled away in the second half and won the game, 71-57.
Both teams got off to slow starts in the first quarter. Both teams combined for 7-for-30 from the field and for 19 points.
Jasmyn Burts,
Kyla Greene and
Jadah Waite tossed in baskets for the Lakers. The offense started to pick up in the second quarter.
Nya Young and
Kyla Greene both hit baskets early in the quarter and made the score, 16-12.
The Lakers only hit four field goals in the second quarter, but the Cougars did not fare much better as they hold a 26-25 lead going into the halftime break.
Kyla Greene led the Lakers with eight points. Both teams went a combined 17-for-59 (28%) from the field.

Columbus State got off to a hot start in the third quarter and scored eight of the first 10 points and led, 34-27. The Lakers got within three at 36-33 after
Ky'Leo Worriels and
Jasmyn Burts dropped in points. At the score, 41-36, the Cougars went on a 12-2 run to end the quarter and took a 53-38 lead. Burts scored the first six points for the Lakers in the fourth quarter and moved the score to 60-44.
Waite and Worriels scored points in the final moments of the game, but Columbus State came out on top, 71-54.
