Greenwood, SC--- The Clayton State University Men's Basketball team traveled to take on the Bearcats of Lander University on Wednesday evening. The Bearcats outscored the Lakers 53-33 in the second half to win the game 89-73. In the game,
DJ Wright scores his 1000
th career point.
At the tipoff, the Lakers came out aggressive from the 3 point line.
DJ Wright got the scoring going for the Lakers with a 3 pointer following a team offensive rebound by the Lakers.
Andre Young followed that 3 pointer with a 3 pointer of his own that gave the Lakers a quick 6-0 lead. The Bearcats responded to the quick 6-0 run by the Lakers with made shots of their own to bring the Lakers lead to just 1 going into the first media timeout. The aggression from both teams was present as the half went on. Both teams were able to see shots fall in from all phases of the game.
Jojo Bell scored 11 points for the Lakers in the first half. As the half concluded, it was the Lakers who had the lead 40-36.

Coming out in the second half, the Lakers saw their first points 3 minutes into the half with a 3 pointer from Joe Thomas. As the half went on, the Bearcats capitalized off the missed shots by the Lakers with made shots from in the paint and behind the 3 point line. With 5:30 left in the game, Wright drove in the lane to make a layup which gave him his 1000
th career point. The Bearcats were able to maintain a comfortable lead which led to a loss for the Lakers 89-73.
