Lakers Pick Up a Clean Sheet Victory over Middle Georgia on Saturday Afternoon

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University Women's Soccer team hosted the Middle Georgia State University Knights this Saturday afternoon. The Lakers shutout the Knights, 1-0. 

The opening half was evenly matched, with both teams creating chances and testing each other early. In the 15th minute, the Lakers broke through when Karley Perry sent a clean cross to Amiah Sprunger-Hightower, who knocked it in to put Clayton State up 1–0. The goal gave the Lakers momentum as they tightened up defensively and controlled the pace of play. Goakeeper Rubie Kelley came up with three big saves, including a key stop in the 28th minute, helping the Lakers take their lead into halftime.

The second half stayed competitive as both teams traded possessions and pushed for control. The Knights worked to even the score, but the Lakers defense stayed composed and steady. Goalkeeper Claire Smith came through with two strong saves in the 67th and 74th minutes to protect the Lakers advantage. The Lakers demonstrated consistent teamwork and focus, Clayton State closed out the game to secure the win.
