LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team stays unbeaten in the 2024 season as they shutout Georgia Southwestern, 2-0, at the Grizzly Soccer Complex, on the campus of Georgia Gwinnett College, on Saturday afternoon.
Carrie Consolino and
Chloe Flannaghan attempted shots for the Lakers in the first 15 minutes of the match. The score remained at 0-0. The Lakers saw their best chance come in the 36
th minute when
Amiah Sprunger-Hightower's shot hit woodwork and Consolino's shot sailed high. The score remained at 0-0.
The Lakers scored a late first half goal in the 44
th minute. After a foul in the box, Sprunger-Hightower cashed in the penalty shot and the Lakers took a 1-0 lead going into the halftime break.

The second half saw mostly a possession battle as neither team saw a ton of opportunities to score. The first real chance for the Lakers came in the 68
th minute. Sprunger-Hightower sent in a nice cross into the far side box and she fed it to Consolino who finished for the goal. The Lakers took a 2-0 lead.
Neither team threatened for another score as the Lakers shutout the Hurricanes, 2-0.
