Women's Soccer Unleashes an Offensive Onslaught Defeating Albany State, 11-0

The Lakers saw four goals from Sprunger-Hightower while Consolino marks second straight hat trick

ALBANY, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team used 37 shots to shutout the Albany State University Lady Golden Rams, 11-0, on Saturday Afternoon.  The Lakers tied a program record in total goals scored in the match. 
 
The Lakers found themselves up 5-0 in the first half as Amiah Sprunger-Hightower scored in the 21st, 26th, and two goals in the 31st minute to make the score 4-0.  Hanna Karlsson scored the fifth goal of the half in the 45th minute and the Lakers went into the halftime break up 5-0.  Carrie Consolino, Leah Agrell, and Madison Nicolas each marked an assist while Gabriela Martinez Alesci marked a pair of assists.  Clayton State outshot the Lady Golden Rams, 17-0, in the first half.

The second half also saw an onslaught of offense for the Lakers.  After securing a hat trick on Wednesday, Consolino was at it again as she marked her second hat trick of the week scoring goals in the 49th, 58th, and 86th minute.  The Lakers also saw three newcomers knock in goals in the half also.  Dayla Ayayda, Vanessa Herrera Cano, and Laila Roberson scored goals in the 66th, 86th, and 90th minute, respectively.  The score read 11-0. 
 
The second half also saw Paige Kohl, Lovisa Peliot, and Consolino each mark an assist while Sprunger-Hightower notched a pair as the Lakers blew past Albany State, 11-0. 
 
QUICK HITS
  • This is the third straight season that Sprunger-Hightower scored four goals against Albany State.  This is also the second straight season where she notched 10 points, which is tied for the school record.  She also led the Lakers with nine shots.
  • This is the second straight match that Consolino marked a hat trick and added seven points in the match. 
  • This is the first career goals for Ayayda, Herrera Cano, and Roberson. 
  • This is the third straight season that the Lakers defeated Albany State by double-digits.
  • Trinity Chastain and Tuva Etterlid, who made her first appearance in net, combined for a one-shot shutout. 
  • The Lakers move to 5-0-1 marking their best start in school history.  Three of the five wins are shutouts.  They have outscored their opponents 21-4 to start the season.
