MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team hosted the University of West Alabama Tigers on Friday evening. The Lakers move to 3-0 for the first time since 2019 as they defeated West Alabama, 1-0.
The Laker lone goal came in the first minute as Amoah Sprunger-Hightower sent in a cross that snuffed out by the Tiger keeper but
Madison Nicolas sent in a shot that found the back of the net. Clayton State led, 1-0. The first half was a possession battle between the two sides. The Lakers saw their next best opportunity come in the 38
th minute. After a UWA yellow card, just outside the box,
Jessica Fuentes bent a shot in, but it was saved by the Tiger keeper.
The Lakers outshot the Tigers, 9-2 and led 1-0.
Halftime: Clayton State 1, West Alabama 0
The second half was also a possession battle with West Alabama applying some pressure throughout seeking for that equalizing goal. Each team had their fair share of opportunities but was unable to find the back of the net.

Trinity Chastain pitched her second straight shutout as the Lakers defeated the Tigers, 1-0.
