MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team concluded its regular season on Saturday hosting the Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia. The Lakers fell 65-60 and dropped to 9-18 on the season.
The Lakers and Nighthawks found themselves knotted up at 15 after the first 10 minutes.
Aaliyah Reid led the Lakers with six points. The Lakers went 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the quarter. The second quarter was a different story as the Lakers only accounted for five points on 1-for-12 shooting. A jumper by
Devyne Turner with 6:30 left in the quarter proved to be the long field goal of the quarter. UNG led by as much as nine in the quarter and took a 29-20 lead going into the halftime break. Reid grabbed 11 rebounds in the half.

The Lakers brought it offensively in the third quarter. At the start, the Lakers went on a 14-4 run and led by one 34-33.
Nina Blade,
Hannah Wright, Reid, and
Deborrah Redmon all scored points for the Lakers during that run.
Jada Alston scored five of the final nine points in the quarter by UNG led, 45-43 going into the fourth quarter.
The Nighthawks led early in the fourth quarter consistently by five points until
Tamaria White hit a three and added free throw with 4:15 left in the game. The UNG lead was cut to one at 52-51. The Lakers would keep the game close for the next few minutes, but the Nighthawks ultimately outlasted the Lakers, 65-60.
