MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team concluded its 2023-24 with a 90-59 loss against #15 North Georgia on Senior Day Saturday. The Lakers end their season with a 7-21 record.
The Nighthawks got off to a blistering start to the first half and shot 68% from the field and led 55-31 after the first 20 minutes.
Travis Harper II and
Keandre Bowles led the Lakers with 10 points. The Lakers made six three-pointers in the half. Four of the six threes were scored by Harper II and Bowles. AJ White from UNG scored 23 points on 9-for-11 shooting.
Halftime: #15 UNG 55, Clayton State 31
The second half saw UNG extend their lead to as much as 29 in the early going and led 59-35.
Baqi Lecky, who made his first start of the season, and
TJ Stargell all scored points for the Lakers. Throughout the half, the Lakers behind 12 points from Harper II closed the gap to as much as 16 later in the half at 85-69.
Wes Williams,
Travis Harper II,
Mohamad Diallo, and
Christian Chambers all scored points towards the end of the second half, but UNG won the game, 90-69.
