MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team fell to Augusta University, 82-78, inside the Loch on Wednesday evening.
The Lakers had the early advantage in the first half. The Lakers, while trailing, 8-7, flipped the script and went on a 7-0 run and led 14-8.
Wes Williams hit a three while
Travis Harper II threw down a dunk. The Jaguars got within two at 14-12, but the Lakers immediately grabbed the momentum back and made the score 26-18. Clayton State saw
Keandre Bowles,
TJ Stargell, and Harper II knockdown shots. The Lakers controlled the duration of the first half and were up seven at 46-39 at the half. The Lakers shot 55% from the field in the half.
Halftime: Clayton State 46, Augusta 39
Augusta started hot from the field in the second half and got within two at 48-46. The Lakers eventually got their lead back up to seven at 60-53 with 14 minutes left.
Eddie Page, Harper II, and Stargell all made baskets for the Lakers. The Jaguars eventually tied the game at 66 with eight minutes left. Both teams then hit a cold streak and did not score for 4:30 minutes.
The Jaguars used timely offense in the final 4:30 in the game as they pulled out a 82-78 victory over Clayton State.
