Men's Basketball Drops Road Finale to USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team plays USC Aiken in its final road regular season game on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center. The Pacers outscored the Lakers 60-40 in the second half and won the game, 90-75.   
 
The Lakers jumped out to a 25-12 lead in the first half.  Travis Harper II, Tyler Shirley, and Wes Williams drain three-pointers during that run.  Keandre Bowles, Mohamad Diallo, and Marcus Harris also scored for the Lakers.  The Pacers then turned the tables on the Lakers in the final 6:30 of the half.  USC Aiken outscored the Lakers 18-10 the rest of the way as the Lakers held onto a 35-30 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.  Harper II led the way with nine points while Bowles contributed seven.  Diallo and Bowles led the way with five boards.  As a team, the Lakers shot 56% from the field and 43% from beyond the arc.

The Lakers quickly jumped out to a 39-32 lead at the start of the second half after Shirley knockdown a pair of field goals.  The Lakers continued to pace play in the second half and eventually led 50-43 after TJ Stargell drilled in a three.  With ten minutes left and with the score tied at 56, the Pacers went on an 18-3 run and took a 74-61 lead.  The Lakers halted that run after Stargell and Shirley all made points, making the score, 79-65. 
 
Elijah Dates hit a pair of three-pointers and Christian Chambers slammed through a dunk in the final couple minutes of the game, but USC Aiken topped the Lakers, 90-75.
