Men's Basketball Opens its 2024-25 Season at the PBC/SAC Challenge on Friday

Games inside the Loch start at 5:30 p.m. and your Lakers play at 7:30 p.m.

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team opens up its 2024-25 season on Friday evening inside the Loch.  The Lakers host the PBC/SAC Challenge welcoming Tusculum, Chowan, and Lenoir-Rhyne. 
 
THE FULL TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Friday November 8th
5:30 p.m.: Chowan vs. Lenoir-Rhyne
7 p.m.: Tusculum vs. Clayton State
 
Satuday, November 9th
1:30 p.m.: Tusculum vs. Chowan
3:30 p.m.: Lenoir-Rhyne vs. Clayton State

CLAYTON STATE CLASSIC

After hosting the PBC/SAC Challenge, the Lakers will welcome Edward Waters, Miles, and Columbus State to the Clayton State Classic on Friday, November 15th and Saturday, November 16th.  Below is the full schedule for that tournament. 
 
Friday, November 15th
5:30 p.m.: Miles vs. Columbus State
7:30 p.m.: Edward Waters vs. Clayton State
 
Saturday, November 16th
1:30 p.m.: Edward Waters vs. Columbus State
3:30 p.m. Miles vs. Clayton State

THIS SEASON
The Lakers were picked to finish ninth in the Preseason Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Coaches' Poll.  Lander University is picked to win the Regular Season crown this season.  The Lakers are led by their senior captain Jamall Clyce who averaged 5.5 points a game and grabbed 3.6 rebounds a game.  The Lakers also return Elijah Dates who played in 25 games last season Eddie Page, who played in 21 games, and Christian Chambers who gave some production from off the bench last season. 
 
Coach Vince Alexander welcomes a strong cast of seven transfers and two true freshmen to the team this season.  The transfers are led by DJ Wright, who led Hampden-Sydney College to the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship game, and Lay Davis, Jojo Bell, and Yannis Woods.  The trio of Lakers transferred in from South Georgia State College who was coached by former CSU Assistant Coach Cory Baldwin.  Jamil Aleem and Tahai Morgan are two true freshmen newcomers who coach Alexander is looking to make an immediate impact on the team this season. 
 
COACHING STAFF
The Lakers are led by fourth-year head coach Vince Alexander.  Alexander is joined by his fourth-year assistant coach Andre Anthony.
