Laker Men's Soccer Tops Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday Evening

Fallah Johnson knocked in the lone Laker goal

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team returned home and shutout Georgia Southwestern, 1-0, on Wednesday evening. 
 
The two teams played to a 0-0 draw in the first 45 minutes.  The Lakers did not allow a single Hurricane shot in the half.  The Lakers had their chances as Fallah Johnson, Alexis Iturria, and Migel Torrecillas all fired off multiple shots. 
 
Halftime: Clayton State 0, GSW 0
 
The second half was a different story as the two teams came out strong with pressure.  Torrecillas and Camilo Velez all notched shots in the first five minutes of the half.  The golden opportunity came for the Lakers in the 62nd minute.  After Isami Takeuchi was fouled in the box, Iturria fired in a penalty kick but it was snuffed out by the Hurricane keeper and the score remained at 0-0.  The Lakers ended up opening the score in the 78th minute.  Fallah Johnson sent in a cross that bent into the goal and made the score, 1-0. 
 
The Hurricanes sent in five shots in the final 10 minutes of the match but the Lakers held on and won, 1-0.
