Three Second Half Goals Pushes Lakers Past Flagler

The Lakers are riding a four-match winning streak

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team hosted PBC-leading Flagler College at Laker Field on Saturday afternoon.  The Lakers avenged its early season loss and defeated the Saints, 4-2. 
 
The Lakers open the scoring in the 14th minute.  After a Flagler foul in the box, Othmane Chagour converted the penalty kick and made the score, 1-0.  Later in the half, Flagler opened their scoring in the 29th minute and knotted up the game at one.  The two teams were tied at one heading into the halftime break.  Mohamed Mahrous, Hector Nieto, and Alexis Iturria fired in shots down the stretch for the Lakers.

The offensive intensity was turned up for both teams in the second half.  The Lakers tacked on another score in the 54th minute.  Andree Jimenez was streaking up into the nearside box and fed Vic Delgado Miller in front of the net for a goal and that made the score, 2-1.  The Saints continued to pressure the Laker defense and eventually tied the match at two in the 57th minute.  In the 68th minute, Iturria sent a through-ball into Fallah Johnson, and he split multiple Flagler defenders in for a goal.  The Lakers led, 3-2. 
 
The Saints tried to put more pressure on Mauricio Uribe, but the Laker defense stood tall for the rest of the half.  The Lakers added to their lead in the 88th minute after Alex Rodriguez found Gustavo Canas and he found the back of the net for a goal, making the score, 4-2. 
 
The Lakers extended their home points streak to 20 and defeated Flagler, 4-2.
