MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team hosted a critical Peach Belt matchup with Flagler College on a sun-drenched Saturday afternoon at Laker Field. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw.
The Lakers and Saints found themselves at a 0-0 draw after the first 45 minutes. Flagler had the slight upper hand with eight shots to the Lakers' seven shots. The Lakers saw their best opportunity come in the 12
th minute as
Carrie Consolino hit woodwork on a shot. From the 12
th minute on, Flagler controlled the half as they fired off all its eight shots during that time.
Halftime: Clayton State 0, Flagler 0
The Lakers came to play at the start of the second half and took the lead. In the 62
nd minute,
Leah Agrell crossed to Consolino and finished for her 14
th goal of the season making the score, 1-0. Flagler then was on attack mode, the rest of the half, but
Trinity Chastain and the Laker defensive unit stood up to the challenge. The Saints then scored the match-tying goal in the 84
th minute off a beautiful shot by Andrea Fernandez and made the score, 1-1.
The Lakers had an opportunity to score in the final minutes of the game, but they settled for a 1-1 draw against Flagler.
