YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The RV Clayton State University men's soccer game steps out of Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play as they traveled up to the mountains of North Georgia to play Young Harris on Tuesday afternoon. The Lakers pulled out their second shutout in three matches and won, 1-0.
The Lakers saw
Alex Rodriguez take all three shots in the first half. Rodriguez then saw one of his shots find the back of the net. In the 17
th minute,
Alexis Iturria fed the ball to Rodriguez, and he finished for a goal making the score, 1-0. The Mountain Lions fired in four shots, but none found the back of the net as the Lakers took a 1-0 lead going into the halftime break.
Halftime: Clayton State 1, Young Harris 0
The second half was a possession battle by both teams. However, each team had their fair share of chances. Young Harris attempted three shots in the first 10 minutes of the half but still trailed, 1-0. The Lakers had a golden opportunity in the 68
th minute. Iturria got in front of the defense and had an empty net, but his shot went off the post and the match remained at, 1-0.
Mauricio Uribe pitched his third shutout of the season as the Lakers picked up a huge region win, 1-0.
