MORROW, Ga. – In its first home game since November 29
th, the Clayton State University women's basketball team hosted Peach Belt Conference (PBC) newcomer USC Beaufort on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers took care of the Sand Sharks, 62-48.
Jadah Waite continues to impress for Clayton State as she led the team with 19 points.
The Lakers played stout defense in the first quarter only allowing five USCB points. The Lakers saw scoring from up-and-down the lineup including three-point field goals from
Devyne Turner and Waite. The Lakers led early 13-2.
Hannah Wright also scored for the Lakers as they led, 18-5 going into the second quarter.
Wright and Turner kicked off the scoring for the Lakers as they led, 24-10. The Sand Sharks then went on a 6-0 run until Waite buried a three. Clayton State led, 27-16. The Sand Sharks scored the final three points of the half and cut the Laker lead to 27-19 going into the halftime break.

Nylah Williams,
Jada Alston, and Turner opened the scoring for the Lakers in the second half as they led 35-26. At the score, 35-28, the Lakers went on an 13-4 run and swelled their lead up to 16 at 48-32. USCB scored the final six points of the quarter, but Clayton State led, 48-38, going into the fourth quarter.
The Sand Sharks got within five points to start the fourth quarter, but the Lakers extended their lead. Baskets by
Jasmyn Burts and Waite extended the Laker lead to 10 at 55-45. Clayton State saw points by
Aaliyah Reid,
Deborrah Redmon, and Burts down the stretch as they defeated USCB, 62-48.
