MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University erased a 16-point second half deficit but fell short at the end to Georgia College and State University, 77-74, on Wednesday evening at the Loch.
The Lakers went up 10-45 early as
TJ Stargell, Travis Harper, and
Tyler Shirley all made field goals. The two teams then traded blow-for-blow in the next couple of possessions as the score read 16 all. The Bobcats then went on an offensive tear. At the score 21-18, Lakers, the Bobcats went on a 22-3 run and led 40-16. Harper II buried a three during that stretch.
Elijah Dates,
Kenneth Brayboy, and
Christian Chambers all hit shots in the final three minutes of the half., but the Bobcats shot a blistering 60% from the field in the first half and led 44-33, going into the halftime break. The Lakers were down by as much as 16 in the first half.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 48-33 lead to start the second half. Then, back-to-back threes by Harper II made the score 50-39. At the score 66-50, the Lakers started to cook offensively as they went on a 14-0 run and only trailed 66-64. Chambers and
Wes Williams hit threes while Brayboy hit a field goal and buried a pair of free throws. After a field goal by the Bobcats, Chambers drained a three and cut the game to one at 68-67. The Bobcats then respond by scoring eight of the next 11 points and extended their lead to six at 76-70. With 1:23 left, Shirley drilled in a pair of field goals and made the score 76-74.
The Lakers had a pair of chances to tie the game in the final seconds, but the Bobcats escape the Loch with a 77-74 victory.
