BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team opened Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play with a 2-0 loss at USC Beaufort on Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers started the first half firing on net as
Jessica Fuentes and
Ida Ditlevsen all registered shots within the first 10 minutes of the match. In the 12
th minute,
Lisa Kelm made two exceptional saves and kept the match at 0-0. Most of the half was back-and-forth until the Sand Sharks opened the scoring in the 36
th minute making the score, 1-0.
The Lakers outshot USCB, 8-6, but trailed 1-0 going into the halftime break.

To begin the second, the Lakers kept the pressure on as
Lois Beer,
Carrie Consolino, and Fuentes all fired shots. USC Beaufort still led 1-0. In the 58
th minute, the Sand Sharks made the score 2-0 with a goal. Throughout the half, the Lakers were continuing to strike the ball as
Daniela Gularte, Beer, and Fuentes all tallied shots.
The USC Beaufort Sand Sharks ended up defeating the Lakers, 2-0.
