GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 11 Clayton State University men's golf team played the first two round of the Bearcat Invitational on Monday into Tuesday morning at the Greenwood Country Club. The Lakers find themselves in third place after a stellar second round.
After two rounds of play, the Lakers are second in the field going 11-under on the par-fives and four-over on the par-threes. Clayton State is leading the field with 126 pars after 36 holes of golf. This is the first time this season that the Lakers finished the first two rounds of golf below par as a team.
Leading the way for the Lakers is senior
Sam Hershoff and
Felipe Gomez. Hershoff and Gomez are in tied for 10
th place with a score of three-under. Trailing behind Hershoff and Gomez was
Nico Cabello. Cabello carded a score of even through 36 holes of play and is tied for 26
th.
Rounding out the field for the Lakers was
Augusto Oliva and
Daniel Medellin which finished 36 holes of golf in tied for 41
st place at two-over par.
The Lakers finished with 126 pars and 28 birdies combined in the two rounds and find themselves behind Anderson and host Lander for third place.
