LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – The No. 13 Clayton State University men's golf team finished in third place in the Tennessee River Rumble on Monday and Tuesday. The Lakers beat out Anderson, who is the No. 1 team in the country according to Golfstat.  North Georgia won the tournament while #2 Lee University followed behind in second place. 
 
Leading the Lakers in the tournament was Nico Cabello.  Cabello, who finished in tied for sixth, shot six-under par for the tournament but finished his third round with a 69 (-3).  Cabello was the only Laker to shoot under-par in all three rounds.  Of the golfers in the field, Nico finished in tied for second with 14 birdies.  Finishing in tied for ninth place was Felipe Gomez.  Gomez, who bounced back from shooting a first round 74 (+2), finished the tournament with a second round 67 (-5) and final round 70 (-2).  Gomez was second in the field with 3.90 strokes on the par-fours' and was third with 40 pars.
 
Following behind was Augusto Oliva.  Oliva finished in tied for 34^th with a final score of four-over.  Following behind was Daniel Medellin and Sam Hershoff.  The pair of Laker golfers finished in tied for 37^th carding a score of five-over.  Medellin was tied for 15^th in the field with 4.03 strokes per par-four while Hershoff was tied for 11^th with 38 pars. 
 
As a team, the Lakers led the field of 20 teams with 4.05 strokes per par-fours and with 181 pars. 
 
HISTORY MADE

• The third-round score of 280 is the tied for the fifth-best 18-hole score in program history.
• A final score of 856 is the sixth lowest 54-hole score in program history.
