MORROW, Ga. – Ahead of their game with Young Harris tonight in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament, the Clayton State University women's basketball finds themselves ranked fifth in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region. The organization released its latest rankings on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lakers (18-10) are riding a seven-game win streak after defeating Columbus State, 75-71, in the Quarterfinals of the PBC Tournament on Wednesday.
The Lakers are led by senior forward
Audrey McElhaney and sophomore transfer
Laylah Davis. A native of Tifton, Ga., McElhaney leads the Lakers with 325 total points, 122 made field goals, 80 made free throws, 6.6 rebounds a game, 184 total rebounds, 54 steals, and 35 blocks. Her 115 offensive rebounds also leads the team, the PBC, and is seventh in the nation. So far this season, Audrey has posted four double-doubles, 17 games of double-digit scoring, and five games of double-digit rebound totals. Audrey was awarded the PBC Defensive Player of the Year and grabbed a first-team All-PBC honor.

Laylah Davis has made the best of her first year as a Laker. Davis leads the Lakers with 11.5 points a game and with 41 made three-pointers. Laylah is also second on the team with 97 field goals made, 75 free throws made, 48 assists, and with 310 total points scored. The Laker sophomore scored in double-figures in 15 games this season. Davis has been on a roll as she has posed 20+ points in two of the last four games. Davis was selected as a second-team All-PBC selection.
The Lakers have also saw contributions from
Diamond Swift,
Jada Moss, and
Jordan Jones. Swift leads the Lakers with 89 assists and is fourth on the team with 27 steals. Moss is second on the team with 115 rebounds and is averaging 4.3 a game. Jones is second on the team with 22 made three-pointers.
The Lakers are fourth in the nation with 5.3 blocks a game and is fifth in the nation with 148 blocks.
