YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College outscored the Clayton State University women's basketball team 50-14 in the second as they won 68-56 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers got off to a very fast start, in the first quarter, scoring 13 of the first 16 points.
Diamond Swift,
Laylah Davis,
Jessica Maye, and
Jada Francois Lubin all buried field goals. The Lakers dominated in all aspects of the quarter and pulled out to a 22-12 lead.
The Lakers kept that same energy in the second quarter as Maye scored the first three field goals. Clayton State pulled out in front 26-12. At the score, 26-15, the Lakers went on a 16-2 run and led 42-17. Francois Lubin,
Jordan Jones, and
Devyne Turner all drained threes for the Lakers.
The Lakers only surrendered six points in the quarter and took a commanding halftime lead at 42-18. Clayton State shot 50% from three-point range in the first half.

The Mountain Lions were hot from the floor to start the third quarter as they went on a 15-0 run. The Lakers led 42-33.
Jasmyn Burts and Jones scored points for the Lakers to end that lengthy run. The Lakers only scored seven points in the quarter, but they held onto a 49-39 lead.
Young Harris continued their second half momentum into the fourth quarter. They started the quarter on an 8-2 run until
Jada Moss nailed a jumper to make the score 53-49. With 5:40 left, the Mountain Lions deadlocked the game at 53 and continued to pressure the Lakers.
The Mountain Lions outscored the Lakers 29-7 in the fourth quarter and went on to win the game, 68-56.
