MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball game came up short to the Bobcats of Georgia College and State University, 71-68, on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers saw a double-double from
Ricardo Saams Jr. and 13 points from
Brian Coffey II.
Wes Williams,
Travis Harper II, and Saams Jr. provided the early offense for the Lakers as they found themselves tied at 14 all. Coffey II drained a pair of three's. After the Bobcats nailed a three, the Lakers went on a 7-2 run as they led 21-19.
Christian Chambers marked five of those seven points. Saams Jr. marked the final three field goals for the Lakers but they were trailing 40-34. The Bobcats scored nine of the final 15 points of the half.

The Lakers cut into their deficit to start the second half.
Kobie Johnson drilled a pair of free throws and tossed in a three. The Lakers were within one at 40-39. With the Lakers up 44-43, the Bobcats went on a 9-2 run and made the score 52-46.
Baqi Lecky made back-to-back jumpers to stall the Bobcat run. The Lakers still trailed 56-54. At the score tied at 58, the Bobcats went on a 7-2 run and jumped out in front 65-60.
In the final two minutes of the game, Johnson, Coffey II, and Saams Jr. all dropped in baskets but the Bobcats of GCSU held on to win the game, 71-68.
