Harper II Registers Second Double-Double of the Season in 87-78 Loss Against Clark Atlanta

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball fell to Clark Atlanta University, 87-78, inside of packed house at the Loch on Wednesday evening.  The game saw very physical play by both teams.
 
The Lakers saw early scoring from Travis Harper II and Wes Williams, in the first half.  The two teams were deadlocked at nine six minutes into the game.  The Lakers then saw Marcus Harris spark a 7-0 Laker run and made the score, 16-9.  The Panthers then responded, eventually, tying the game at 16.  The two teams were matching each other blow-by-blow and made the score 30-29 with four-and-a-half to play.  Aaron Pitts, Kenneth Brayboy, and Williams all scored for the Lakers during that stretch. 
 
In the final two-and-a-half minutes, the Panthers went on an 8-3 run and took the lead at 39-34 going into the halftime break.

The Panthers used some big shots in the early part of the second half to start to pull away from the Lakers.  Clark Atlanta led by 13 at 51-38 in the first four minutes of the half.  Williams and Tyler Shirley scored for the Lakers.  Elijah Dates then knocked down a three and pulled the Lakers within 10 at 51-41.  After the Lakers closed the gap to seven at 53-46, the Panthers went on a 9-2 run and moved the score to 62-48.  At the score 73-56, Williams and Shirley drilled in three-balls on back-to-back possessions and made the score 76-62 with six-and-a-half left in the game. 
 
The Lakers managed only five more field goals in the entire game and fell to Clark Atlanta in a physical battle, 87-78.
