VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team dropped a road game to Valdosta State University, 72-59, inside the Complex on Tuesday evening.
The Lakers got off to a great start in the first quarter as they jumped out to an 11-2 lead.

Aaliyah Reid,
Jadah Waite all scored for the Lakers. The Blazers then closed the gap to 11-10 as they scored the next eight points. The two teams took a 15 all score going into the second quarter. The Lakers jumped out to a three-point lead at 24-21 with under five minutes left in the second quarter. A three-pointers by
Hannah Wright and baskets by Reid,
Deborrah Redmon, and Waite gave Clayton State the advantage. Then, Waite knocked down back-to-back threes and made the score 30-25 with 3:10 left in the half.
The two teams combined for two points the rest of the half but the lakers led, 31-26 going into the halftime break.

The Blazers saw an offensive explosion in the third quarter as they outscored the Lakers, 28-13, and took a 54-44 lead going into the fourth quarter. The quarter saw five points by Redmon and three points by
Jasmyn Burts and
Tamaria White apiece. Valdosta State kept up their scoring in the early part of the fourth quarter. They started the quarter on an 8-2 run and made the score, 62-46. With a little over four minutes left, the Lakers saw three-balls from
Jada Alston and
Zoe Wiltz and closed the gap to 64-56.
The Valdosta State Blazers scored eight of the final 11 points and defeated the Lakers, 72-59.
