DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team dropped the opening game of the UNG Classic to Lincoln Memorial, 77-64, on Friday evening.
The Lakers saw early offensive production from
Aaliyah Reid and
Jadah Waite as the two teams found themselves tied at six. The Railsplitters then went on a 10-2 run and jumped out in front 16-8. With a minute left in the quarter, Reid,
Hannah Wright, and
Zoe Wiltz combined for the final seven points of the quarter but LMU still led, 16-15 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Lincoln Memorial scored the first five points of the half and led 21-15. The Lakers finally cracked the scoring column three minutes into the quarter when Waite hit a layup and a three-pointer. The Lakers closed the gap to 23-20. After Wright hit a three making the score 25-23, the Railsplitters went on a 9-2 run and made the score 34-25 with 1:20 left in the quarter.
Waite hit a three and
Jada Alston made a layup in the closing moments of the half, but Lincoln Memorial led 36-30 going into the half.

The Lakers started off the third quarter seeing Reid send in fast break layups on back-to-back possessions. Clayton State trailed 38-34. Then, Lincoln Memorial then scored 11 of the next 13 points and extended their lead to 47-36.
Tamaria White hit a layup to stall the run. The Railsplitters outscored the Lakers by seven in the third quarter and took a 56-43 lead going into the fourth quarter. Lincoln Memorial got off to a hot start in the fourth quarter and tallied seven of the first nine points and moved the score to 63-45. Wright drilled a three-pointer to end the run.
Deborrah Redmon,
Sariya Henry, and Waite all scored points down the stretch in the quarter for the Lakers.
Wright ended up knocking down four, three-pointers in the quarter but the Lakers fell to Lincoln Memorial, 77-64.
