Sprunger-Hightower Notched Two Goals in 4-2 Loss at #9 Flagler on Sunday

Amiah has scored five goals against Flagler in her two-year career

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team fell 4-2 to the #9 Saints of Flagler College on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Saints got on the board rather quickly with a goal 36 seconds into the match and they jumped out to a 1-0 lead.  Later in the half, the Lakers were trying to put some pressure on Flagler as Carrie Consolino saw three shots blocked in the first 20 minutes of play.  Also, in that stretch, Lisa Kelm made three saves.  The Lakers scored the equalizing goal.  In the 38th minute, Amiah Sprunger-Hightower saw a breakaway opportunity sent in a laser from 25 yards out for a goal.  The Lakers and Saints were tied at one.
 
However, Flagler kicked in a goal in the 44th minute and took a 2-1 lead going into the halftime break.

The Lakers came out of the locker room swinging as Jessica Fuentes and Sprunger-Hightower all connected on shots, but the score remained at 2-1.  The Saints then tacked on another goal in the 54th minute as the score went to 3-1.  Neither team really had any more opportunities until the 74th minute but the Flagler shot was saved by Kelm.  In the 86th minute, the Saints scored again and extended their lead to 4-1. 
 
With the score, 4-1, the Lakers found the back of the net again.  In the 88th minute, Sprunger-Hightower took advantage of another breakaway and netted her second goal of the match.  The Flagler lead was down to 4-2.  That scored remained at the sound of the final horn.
