MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University Women's Soccer team concluded their regular season as they hosted the Golden Rams of Albany State University on Saturday evening. The Lakers overwhelmed the Lady Golden Rams, 10-0, on Senior Day.
The Lakers scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the game. In the 3
rd minute,
Lois Beer set up
Tahlia Stangherlin for a goal and made the score, 1-0. About six minutes later,
Amiah Sprunger-Hightower scored her first goal of the match and made the score, 2-0. Beer also marked an assist on that goal. In the same minute, Sprunger-Hightower marked her second goal of the match and made the score, 3-0.
The Lakers were not quite done. In the 13
th and 16
th minute,
Chloe Flannaghan sent shots into the back of the net for goals. The Lakers took a 5-0 lead. Sprunger-Hightower assisted on both goals while Stangherlin notched an assist on her first goal.
Serwaah Danso and Sprunger-Hightower both knocked in goals at the 18
th and 20
th minutes as the Lakers took a 7-0 lead going into the halftime break.
Halftime: Clayton State 7, Albany State 0
The Lakers continued to score goals in the second half. In the 66
th minute,
Jessica Fuentes entered the scoring party as she sent a ball into the net for a goal. The Lakers led, 8-0. In the 68
th minute, Amiah scored her fourth goal of the match and made the score 9-0, and in 88
th minute
Julia Hasenecz fired in her first goal of the season and moved the score to 10-0.
The Lakers outshot the Lady Golden Rams, 38-4 as they went onto win the match, 10-0.
Aubrey Harrison pitched a shutout in her first career start for the Lakers.
