MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team clinched their first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Regular Season Championship since 2010 as they defeated Georgia Southwestern, 3-0, at Laker Field on Senior Day. This is also the first PBC Championship for Clayton State since men's basketball in 2017-18.
The two teams played to 0-0 tie at the end of the first 45 minutes. Neither team had to many opportunities as they combined for 14 shots.
Alexis Iturria,
Vic Delgado Miller,
Mohamed Mahrous, and
Geo Rios all fired in shots for the Lakers. Iturria led the team with five shots.

The Lakers started to more pressure on the Hurricanes at the start of the second half. In the 48
th minute, a Laker attacker was fouled in the box which resulted in a penalty kick opportunity.
Geo Rios took the PK and buried it into the back of the net for a goal. The Lakers led, 1-0. With that goal, Rios broke the school record for the most points in school history. The Lakers continued to pepper in shots as
Gonzalo LaChica and Iturria took shots. The Lakers then extended their lead. In the 57
th minute,
Isami Takeuchi found Rios near the center of the box, and he finished for his second goal of match, which made the score, 2-0.
In the midway point of the half, the Lakers all but sealed the victory. In the 63
rd minute, Rios found Iturria who bent the ball into the top left-hand corner for a goal. Iturria has scored a goal in five of his last six matches and made the score, 3-0.
Mauricio Uribe gobbled up three saves as the Lakers picked up their third shutout of the week and defeated GSW, 3-0.

- Rios not only broke the career points record by he also tied Brett Nielsen's record making his 73rd career start. He also added two goals and an assist.
- Iturria fired in his 11th goal of the season, leading the team and second in the PBC.
- Alexis also added a season-high 11 shots bringing his total for the second at 83 shots, which is 30 more than anyone in the conference and the national leader. He also moved into second all-time in the single-season shots category.
- Uribe picked up his fourth shutout of the season and made three saves.
