Women's Soccer Picks Up the 3-0 Road Win at Anderson

This is the second shutout the last three matches for the Lakers

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team traveled to the Palmetto State to face the Spartans of Anderson University in their final road contest of the regular season on Wednesday.  The Lakers took care of business and shutout the Trojans, 3-0. 
 
The Lakers hung a goal in the scoring column in the first half.  In the 12th minute, Julia Hasenenz set up Amiah Sprunger-Hightower and she knocked the ball through the net for a goal.  The Lakers led, 1-0.  Sprunger-Hightower and Serwaah Danso all marked shots the rest of the way in the half but the Lakers took a 1-0 lead going into the locker room. Laker keeper Trinity Chastain made two saves on the half. 
 
Halftime: Clayton State 1, Anderson 0
 
The Lakers added on in the second half.  In the 56th minute, Tahlia Stangherlin entered the scoring party and left with her third goal of the season, which made the score, 2-0.  After shots by Sprunger-Hightower and Chloe Flannaghan, Clayton State struck for their third goal of the contest. In the 63rd minute, Lydia Madrid fed the ball to Sprunger-Hightower and she knocked in her second goal of the match.  The Lakers made the score, 3-0. 
 
The Lakers saw shots by Elisabet Isleifsdottir and Daniela Gularte down the stretch but three goals proved to be enough.  Clayton State won, handily, 3-0.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Lakers host the Golden Rams of Albany State University on Saturday, October 28th for Senior Day.  Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.  Saturday is also Trunk/Treat hosted by the CSU SAAC.
