MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team welcomed the Warhawks of Auburn University Montgomery to Laker Field for a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon. The Lakers shut out the Warhawks, 4-0 after a pair of goals by
Carrie Consolino and
Amiah Sprunger-Hightower.
The Lakers dominated the match from the beginning and never seemed to let up throughout the match. Consolino and Sprunger-Hightower had their fair share of chances early as they combined for, four shots in the first 15 minutes of the match. The Lakers tallied their first score of the match. In the 22
nd minute, The Warhawks thwarted a corner kick, but Sprunger-Hightower hooked up with Consolino and she finished for a goal making the score, 1-0.
The Lakers kept peppering shots in and added to their lead before the halftime break. In the 45
th minute,
Tahlia Stangherlin sent in a brilliant ball to Sprunger-Hightower near the top of the box. Amiah then went one v one and finished for a goal making the score, 2-0. Clayton State held AUM to one shot the entire first half.

Consolino and Sprunger-Hightower kept putting the pressure on the Warhawk defense as they combined for five shots in the first 10 minutes of the half. Clayton State added another score in the midway part of the second half. In the 70
th minute,
Daniela Gularte, and Sprunger-Hightower both served up one-touch passes to Consolino who scored her second goal of the match and made the score, 3-0.
The Lakers sealed the match with another goal a couple of minutes later. In the 75
th minute, Consolino found Sprunger-Hightower as she was going one v one in the nearside box. Her shot then found the back of the net for her second goal of the match. The Lakers put the match out of reach going up 4-0.
Clayton State notched its third shutout of the season as they handled AUM, 4-0.
