WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team took on the No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish on Sunday afternoon. The Lakers dropped a 1-0 decision.
The Lakers had some early opportunities early in the first half when
Langston Blackstock and
Hector Fuentes combined to connect on the first four shots. The score remained tied at zeros. The Sailfish then recorded the lone goal of the match in the 26
th minute off of a corner kick to make the score, 1-0. The Lakers took seven corner kicks and shots in the first half, but the Sailfish led, 1-0, going into the locker room.
Halftime: No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic 1, Clayton State 0
Blackstock,
Geo Rios, and
Youkendjy Pacius all tallied shots in the beginning of the second half but the Sailfish still led, 1-0. The Lakers kept the Sailfish keeper busy as
Alexis Iturria, Rios, and Blackstock all had shots down the stretch, but they were unable to ring the cash register as PBA defeated the Lakers, 1-0.
