Clayton State Takes Down Young Harris For the First Time Since 2017

Isami Takeuchi and Isaac Pimenta knocked in goals for the Lakers

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team traveled up to the mountains of Georgia to face the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College Wednesday afternoon. The Lakers defeated the Mountain Lions for the first time since 2017, 2-1. 
 
The Lakers were tested early in the first half as David Magala picked up a pair of saves in the first 10 minutes of play.  The Mountain Lions scored the first half's only goal in the 33rd minute to make the score, 1-0.  Langston Blackstock and Geo Rios fired the only shots for the Lakers as they trail, 1-0, going into the break.  Both teams combined for four cautions and 25 fouls in the first half.

The Lakers put the pressure on the Mountain Lions to start the second half as Blackstock's shot at the 48th minute was saved by the Young Harris keeper.   Then, the Lakers and Mountain Lions combined for three cautions from the 53rd to the 62nd minute.  The Lakers then evened the match in the 75th minute.  After a shot by Rios, Isami Takeuchi gathered the rebound and poked in his first goal of the season.  The Lakers continued to press the Mountain Lions in the second half.  In the 85th minute, off a great cross from Rios from the nearside corner, Isaac Pimenta scored the go-ahead goal as the Lakers took a 2-1 lead. 
 
Clayton State held on to earn the 2-1 victory over Young Harris.
