Men's Soccer Completes Season Sweep of North Georgia on Saturday

Blackstock knocked in his sixth goal of the season

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team hosted the Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia at Laker Field on Saturday afternoon.  The Lakers used two early goals to win 2-0.

The Lakers did not waste anytime to strike first in the first half.  In the third minute, Geo Rios served up a great corner from the far side to Hector Fuentes, who knocked in his first goal of the season making the score, 1-0.  Rios notched his eighth assist of the season.  The Lakers were knocking on the door once again.  In the fourth minute, after Rios was fouled in the box, Langston Blackstock converted the penalty goal and marked his team-leading sixth goal of the season.  The Lakers took a 2-0 advantage early in the first half.

The Lakers kept up the pace in the first half as both Isami Takeuchi and Vic Delgado Miller both had golden opportunities to score but they were both saved by the Nighthawk keeper.  The Nighthawks only had two shots the entire half, but they trailed the Lakers, 2-0, going into the break.

North Georgia pressured the Lakers at the beginning of the second half as they fired five shots in the first 15 minutes.  The Lakers still led, 2-0.  The best opportunity for the Lakers to score was in the 63rd minute when Delgado Miller went top shelf, but it was smacked away by the North Georgia keeper and kept the match at 2-0.
