DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team played the University of North Georgia Nighthawks on Saturday at the UNG Soccer Complex. The Nighthawks defeated the Lakers, 2-0.
The Nighthawks struck first in the first half as they took the lead with a goal in the 27
th minute. North Georgia scored its second goal five minutes later and extended its lead to 2-0.
Felicia Wallin and
Ida Ditlevsen connected on shots for the Lakers but they trailed, 2-0, going into the half. Ditlevsen had the best opportunity when her shot came off a corner kick in 22
nd minute.
Halftime: North Georgia 2, Clayton State 0
Neither team rung the cash register in the second half but the Lakers had an opportunity to score at the beginning of the second half. Valaria Gasca sent in a shot on frame in the 47
th minute but it was knocked away from a Nighthawk defender and forced a corner kick. Then, Laker goalkeeper
Trinity Chastain made four saves from the 57
th minute to the 64
th minute.
The Lakers did not notch a shot in the final 25 minutes of the match as they dropped a 2-0 decision to North Georgia.
