Lakers Edged by Lander, 1-0, on Wednesday Evening

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team returned to Laker Field for a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) contest against the Bearcats of Lander University on Wednesday evening.

Both teams had some great opportunities to score in the first half.  In the fourth minute, the Bearcats were fouled in the box, which set up a penalty shot opportunity, but the Laker keeper David Magala made a sensational save and kept the score at zeros.  The Lakers saw their best opportunity come in the 16th minute when Youkendjy Pacius put the ball right on frame, but the Bearcat keeper made a great save to keep the match scoreless.

The Lakers outshot the Bearcats, 8-4, in the first half as the two teams went into the break deadlocked at zeros.

Halftime: Clayton State 0, Lander 0

The Bearcats did not waste anytime to get on the board in the second half.  In the 49th minute, Lander scored the match's only goal and made the score, 1-0.  The best chance the Lakers to get on the board was in the 76th and 84th minutes when Vic Delgado Miller sent in a pair of shots on frame, but both of his shots were snuffed out by the Bearcat keeper.

Both teams combined for seven yellow cards in the second half and Lander stays undefeated in the PBC as they defeated Clayton State, 1-0.
