MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Clayton State women's soccer team traveled to Alabama to take on the University of Montevallo Falcons on Friday evening. The Lakers were edged by the Falcons, 1-0.
The Lakers found themselves down early as the Falcons scored a goal in the third minute and made the score, 1-0. The Lakers were threatening minutes after the goal as
Amiah Sprunger-Hightower set in a pair of shots that were saved by the Falcon keeper. Montevallo was still up 1-0. The Lakers only managed four shots the whole half and were trailing the Falcons, 1-0, after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Lakers saw four shots with one on goal and was unable to overcome that early goal. The best opportunity for Clayton State came in the 79
th minute when
Paige Clemenson had her shot-on-frame smothered by the Falcon keeper.
Luise Domnick,
Tahlia Stangherlin, and
Daniela Gularte accounted for the remaining shots in the half.
An early goal in the third minute by Montevallo proved to be the only offense in the match as the Lakers fell, 1-0.
