MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team opened its Peach Belt Conference (PBC) slate as they hosted the Sand Sharks of USC Beaufort on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Lakers dropped a 1-0 decision.
Both teams did not have many opportunities to score in the first half, but the Sand Sharks broke through in the 29
th minute to make the score, 1-0. In the 17
th minute, the Lakers had a great opportunity to score a goal but the shot by
Luise Domnick just went high over the crossbar. The Lakers outshot the Sand Sharks, 9-4, in the half but USC Beaufort leads at the half, 1-0. Domnick and
Tahlia Stangherlin led the team with a pair of shots apiece.

The second half started with the Lakers bringing the pressure as
Reia Henry, Domnick,
Julia Hasenecz,
Amiah Sprunger-Hightower, and
Felicia Wallin all took shots. The score remained 1-0, Sand Sharks. The Lakers saw their best opportunity for the equalizer in the 71
st minute when Sprunger-Hightower's shot hit off the cross bar.
The Lakers outshot the Sand Sharks, 10-4, in the second half but dropped their PBC opener, 1-0.
